Good Bye processed bread, Hello Sprouted bread!



As a bread lover I have had a hard time giving up bread so I sought an alternative. I had a hard time finding bread that didn't contain fructose corn syrup or wasn't processed. I was seeking a bread that not only is healthy and nutritious, but tasty. All bread should have less than 5 ingredients. Most bread sold today has a long list of ingredients that have been added, most chemical.


Last year I came across Ezekiel Bread at my local Whole Foods Market. It's an
organic-sprouted-whole-grain-bread that is not only a complete protein but also weighs in very low on the Glycemic Index. These are the kind of carbs we want to be eating, whole unprocessed whole grain products. All you have to do is take a close look at this bread to see all the whole grains that it consists of. Bread made without flour? Out of sprouted grains, legumes and seeds? This couldn’t possibly taste good, could it? Unlike many breads on the market today you will NOT see ingredients like enriched wheat flour, high fructose corn syrup, or preservatives listed in the ingredients.

Some of the ingredients you will see are sprouted barley, millet, lentils, spelt, and soybeans!
In the case of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Bread, the result is an organic, nutritionally-dense, high fiber bread that also is a complete protein — one of the few breads on the market that contain all 9 essential amino acids, is low in fat, has no Trans Fats or cholesterol and is generally low in sodium. When was the last time you can honestly say you had all of these nutritious ingredients in one sitting? Remember, when choosing any breads you want to look for whole grains over simply whole wheat flour. This is easy enough because all you have to do is look at the bread… if you see whole grains and seeds you know you’ve got a good one. If you’re bread is brown but soft and fluffy you might want to take a closer look at the list of ingredients.

Ezekiel products are also gluten free,
flour free so for those of you that have food allergies this may very well be the product you have been looking for! Sprouting the wheat berry seems to break down the gluten a bit and many people who have wheat-gluten sensitivities seem to be able to tolerate this bread. The best part is that they make more than just bread.

You can get English muffins, tortillas, buns, cereals, pasta and pita bread
– lots of options!

Below is a Sandwich recipe I came up with using sprouted bread

ingredients you will need:

curry
coconut oil or olive oil
goats cheese (raw cheese that hasnt been pasturized is the best because it contains enzymes)
tomato slices
spinach leafs

Instructions:
Take 2 slices of sprouted bread and toast them.
Pour 1 tbsp of olive oil or Coconut oil (I prefer coconut oil to all oils) and sprinkle 1 tsp of curry powder into the oil. Allow to heat
Place the toasted bread into the curry oil and coat both sides.
slice the goats cheese and add it to one side of the bread
top it with tomato slices
sprinkle with some spinach leaves and place the other slice of bread on top.
Once the cheese is heated remove and eat
Enjoy

Great post. I've been meaning to give Ezekiel Bread a try. One more thing to remember when shopping for bread: Make sure it says 100% Whole Grain! 100% Whole Wheat with Whole Grains means nothing. Find the bread that says 100% whole grain.

Thanks for the comment. That´s a good reminder to always look for whole grain, opposed to whole wheat!
